| Fabrics for Roller Shades from Ann Wallace | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Our roller shade fabrics are made especially for shades and duplicate old fashioned varnish with a more eco-sensitive sizing. In fact, our natural fabric shades are recommended for people with vinyl or other chemical sensitivities. We strongly suggest emailing us to request the roller shade sample card (no charge).
The darker the fabric color, the more light blocking and in the past dark green was often used for this purpose. Rooms were kept dark when not in use to protect furniture and fabrics from sun and to keep them cooler in summer. Some of our fabrics are available with a light blocking coating that helps shade the room. This coating is white and will show on the roller if the shade is back rolled.

| Classic Cotton Shades Traditional flat cotton, the white works very well with oyster linen and with oatmeal peasant linen. Ecru coordinates with ecru peasant linen - it is the color of a typical file folder. Antique gold is a parchment-y color seen in many vintage shades. We do not stencil on the green but it is a classic period shade color (think of old fashioned offices and green eye shades), often used for black-out. Use it alone or with natural linen curtains and valances. Dove coordinates with enzyme washed linen. |

| Muslin Shades or Linen/Cotton Natural Shades Muslin is off white with the slight texture of an unbleached, natural colored fabric. It coordinates with all our natual linens. Linen/Cotton has more texture(we call it slub) and looks great with natural linen or by itself. These are available in light blocking. |

| Cotton with light blocking backing We now have a cotton shade fabric with a light blocking backing. The backing is white (even for the black cotton) and will show on the roller with a back roll. We do not recommend using this cotton with the unbacked cotton (above) as the colors will always be a different dye lot and wil not really match. |
